Filling the gap isn’t it good With elaborate friends or run of the mill Soak up some trees or climb in a bath The oxygen is necessary Fill up your lungs, clear out your mind There’s not enough space, nor enough time Operate on maximum drive Collaborate with many like minds How nice it would be to be complete as one How nice it would be to be complete as one How nice it would be to be complete as one How nice it would be to be complete as one Escape holidays and run to the crowd The buzz that you get is not very loud When nobody sings the same kind of songs You already know you won’t get along Fighting the urge for trash on the tube You hear it’s not good for people like you So squeeze all you’ve got and gift it away Chew paper and gold, it’s gone the next day How nice it would be to be complete as one How nice it would be to be complete as one How nice it would be to be complete as one How nice it would be to be complete as .. One of these days we won’t feel the sun Then there won’t be a reason to run Why do we reach outside Inside craves just to hide Crawl by crawl to the top Only go never stop

about

Just a note that this is just the first Single off an upcoming album 'Upon these Open Skins'. I've ended up uploading it here as there was some problems with Bandcamp's single track upload.

The track pulls you in with a synth arpeggiator reminiscent of the Stranger Things soundtrack and keeps you hooked with a drum and bass groove superbly executed by Abby Constable and held down by Nick Henderson on electric bass. The almost robotic verses with Emily-Rose’s vocals split into three tracks, are juxtaposed with an indie ballad type chorus and a beautifully spacious guitar soloistic moment from Luke Chapman. The violin (played by Chris Stone) forms a unit together with guitar balancing the vocals and adding a wonderfully unusual textural layer. Lyrics revolve around the fast pace and anxieties of modern day life expectations, giving way to a chorus which laments ‘how nice it would be to be complete as one’. Of course it is impossible to feel a complete human with nothing but ourselves in life, but we often fill our time and spaces with many unnecessary things, whether they be tangible or intangible.
